A commercial cover is our high-end cover option, created by a designer and including bespoke original designs, images, layout and typography. Unlike custom covers, commercial covers incorporate market research and mood board creation so the final design is positioned to work within the book's genre and stand out in the marketplace. Commercial covers are included in PRO packages and self-publishing Platinum (aka self-pub 2). They are also available as a standalone upgrade for any client who wants a professionally designed, market-ready cover. ### What is included? - **Market research** — The designer researches comparable titles in the same genre to ensure the cover is positioned correctly. - **Mood board** — A curated mood board is created and shared before design work begins. - **2–4 cover options** — The designer produces multiple market-aligned concepts for the client to choose from. - **Up to 3 rounds of revisions** — Included in the price. - **Final files in all required formats** — Produced in the appropriate specifications for print (Peecho), Amazon KDP, or IngramSpark as needed. *Note: Covers designed by Beth will require an external typesetter to prepare Amazon and IngramSpark files. This adds £20 / $25 typesetting costs.* ### How much does it cost? Commercial covers are priced at **£300 / $400** designer cost, and **£1,200 / $1,600** to the client. *For revisions beyond what's included, get a quote from management. Always check the Quotation Tool for precise pricing on commercial covers or other upgrades.* ### Who handles commercial covers? Commercial design is handled internally by Beth (PRO) or Liz (self-publishing), or sent to an external designer based on availability. Once the design process begins, it takes between **6 to 8 weeks** to complete. Do not send custom designs (cover or interior) directly to Beth or Liz. All design requests must go through the correct process outlined below. ### How do I process a commercial cover in HubSpot? Commercial design projects are tracked in the **Design Production pipeline** in HubSpot. Follow these steps: STEP 1 — Create the Drive folder Create a folder in the Drive using the template structure here: [https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Be\_cN77l0eB0tOfBrVtc7WVo6DaMGrt4](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Be_cN77l0eB0tOfBrVtc7WVo6DaMGrt4) STEP 2 — Complete the design brief with the client Complete the cover brief questionnaire together with the client. The brief questionnaire can be found here: [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfbq8i2A9GYBGk9epS8HS9KcgQiBvXSnNeVpfd\_zvPfFM0Osw/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=116161670854999493194](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfbq8i2A9GYBGk9epS8HS9KcgQiBvXSnNeVpfd_zvPfFM0Osw/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=116161670854999493194) STEP 3 — Move the design deal in HubSpot Move the **design deal** (not the editorial deal) from 'Duplicated from editorial' to **'Brief received'** *If no design deal is available:* 1. *Check that editorial deal has ‘Commercial Cover’ added in ‘Design Services; property* 2. *If it’s already there but there’s no design deal, speak with management.* STEP 4 — Complete the HubSpot form Complete the automatic form that appears on the right-hand side of the design deal in HubSpot and save it. This will trigger an email to Beth / Liz (depending on who you selected), Jon, and Mireia notifying them that new design work is needed. STEP 5 — Designer is assigned Design is handled internally by Beth or Liz. The expected timeline from this point is 6 to 8 weeks. ### What is the Commercial Cover pipeline in HubSpot? The design deal moves through the following stages: - **Duplicated from editorial** — Starting stage. PE should move to 'Brief received' once the brief is completed. - **Brief received** — Brief has been completed and submitted. Email is sent to the designer to flag there’s a new design project. - **Designer brief sent** — DS or PE has briefed the designer. - **Designer accepted** — Designer has confirmed they can take on the project. - **First designs in** — Designer has submitted initial concepts. - **Designs reviewed** — Designs have been checked internally and shared with the client. - **Designs approved** — Client has approved the final design. - **Final files received** — All final files have been received from the designer. - **Completed** — Files saved in Drive and project closed. ### Where do I save the completed design files? Upload all design files to the client's project folder in the Drive.
